Les premiers furent la famille des Scribe Easy et Scribe HD, suivis par les Star, Idol Ultra et Idol Mini. Désormais, nous vous proposons un test du Alcatel One Touch Idol X, un nouveau smartphone bien plus haut de gamme que les précédents Alcatel One Touch commercialisés sur le marché, qui propose des caractéristiques plutôt intéressantes, mais le reste suit-il ? Partant du fait que j’ai moi-même réalisé les tests de trois des mobiles d’Alcatel One Touch Idol Mini, Scribe Easy et HD, je ne vous cacherai pas que cet Idol X a su éveiller ma curiosité. Quant on visualise la fiche technique du produit, on est en droit de s’attendre au top du top d’Alcatel One Touch, mais j’ai été un peu déçu. J’ai rarement l’habitude de commencer mes tests sur de la mauvaise critique, cependant je vous avoue que l’optimisation de l’interface logicielle laisse parfois à désirer. C’est triste à dire, mais comparativement à un Wiko Darkfull, la différence de fluidité avec cet Idol X reste assez rebutante. Il faut tenir compte du fait que le mobile n’est pas encore sorti et que la version logicielle installée n’est pas totalement finalisée et optimisée. Nous creuserons ce point plus en détail dans la suite de ce test. Fin décembre, Alcatel One Touch lancera donc son Idol X, un smartphone doté d’un grand écran IPS-LCD de 5 pouces en Full-HD 1080 x 1920 pixels avec une résolution d’environ 441 pixels par pouce qui vient se faufiler au côté des mobiles haut de gamme de 2013. On ne peut pas en dire autant de la suite matérielle qui se rapproche plus d’un produit milieu de gamme que d’un vrai haut de gamme en fin de compte. Couplé à cet écran en très haute définition, on retrouve un processeur de quatre cœur de la série MediaTek MT6589 cadencé à 1,5 GHz, soutenu par une puce graphique de type PowerVR SGX544 MP1 et 2 Go de RAM. Pour revenir sur le processeur, il ne faut pas se méprendre en croyant qu’il s’agit d’une mouture haut de gamme puisque nous avons à faire à du MediaTek qui est monté sur un ARM Cortex-A7 gravé en 28 nm, là où les Snapdragon 600 et 800 sont beaucoup plus proches des performances d’une architecture de type ARM Cortex-A15, le Krait 400. En ce qui concerne le Tegra 4 et l’Exynos 5410 et 5420, nous avons affaire à de vraies solutions ARM Cortex-A15, mais on s’égare peut-être un peu trop. L’Idol X propose en outre un appareil photo dorsal de 13,1 millions de pixels et un capteur frontal de 2,1 millions de pixels. En termes de connectivités, le produit intègre du Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, du Bluetooth avec le support A2DP, du GPS avec le support A-GPS, la 3G jusqu’à 42 Mbit/s en réception de données. En tenue portrait, ses dimensions sont de 140,4 mm en longueur, 67,5 mm en largeur et 6,9 mm en épaisseur pour un poids de 130 grammes. Enfin, il est vrai que la capacité de la batterie de 2000 mAh reste quand même assez mince. De manière générale, les composants sont plutôt prometteurs et nous allons voir ce que cela donne dans la suite de ce test ! Avec ses bordures très fines, l’Idol X saura certainement séduire les intéressés qui ne souhaitent pas débourser une somme astronomique dans un smartphone milieu ou haut de gamme, pour se rediriger vers ce smartphone proposé à moins de 300 euros. Comme nous pouvons le découvrir ensemble sur cette première photo ci-dessous, le smartphone affiche un grand écran de 5 pouces en Full HD soit une définition totale de 1080 x 1920 pixels. La technologie employée sur la dalle tactile est IPS-LCD et affiche une résolution d’environ 441 pixels par pouce. En second plan, il faut également souligner que le verre utilisé est un Dragontrail, la même technologie de protection contre les rayures et les chocs qui est exploitée par Sony et d’autres constructeurs dans leur mobile haut de gamme Xperia Z, Z1, Z Ultra, etc.. Sur la zone avant haute du produit, on retrouve le premier capteur frontal de 2,1 millions de pixels. Concrètement, la qualité est plutôt correcte, et sera amplement suffisante pour faire de la visio. Bien sûr, il pourra aussi être utilisé pour réaliser des photos et des vidéos en 1080p30fps. À gauche de ce premier haut-parleur, on peut souligner la présence d’une LED de notification mono-couleur blanche. Sur la zone avant basse de l’appareil, Alcatel One Touch a fait le choix d’une suite de boutons tactiles sensitifs. Un choix que je ne critiquerai pas, partant du fait que beaucoup apprécient les produits qui exploitent la globalité de l’écran, là où d’autres préfèrent l’intégration logicielle. Sur la façade arrière, l’Idol X s’habille d’une coque en plastique mat qui a l’avantage de très peu marquer les traces de doigts. Hélas, beaucoup seront déçus par le fait que la coque n’est pas amovible, et donc pas interchangeable. Toutefois, si vous souhaitez faire l’acquisition de ce mobile, il vous sera possible de choisir entre les quatre couleurs le rouge, mais aussi le jaune, le bleu et le noir. Dès lors que l’on penche un peu plus la tête sur la partie haute, on tombe nez à nez avec le capteur dorsal de 13,1 millions de pixels doté d’un zoom digital, adossé à un flash LED et un microphone secondaire. La mention FHD confirme la possibilité de réaliser des vidéos en 1080p. Sur la partie basse, il avance un haut-parleur mono qui ne s’appuie, certes, sur aucune technologie d’amélioration sonore, mais qui offre tout de même une qualité audio plus qu’acceptable. Aucun grésillement ou effet de saturation n’a été rencontré. Plutôt un très bon point. Sur la tranche inférieure basse, on retrouve le traditionnel port micro-USB et le microphone principal de l’Idol X. Du côté de la tranche inférieure gauche, il y a seulement l’emplacement micro-SIM qui s’ouvre d’une simple pression du doigt. Quant à la tranche inférieure haute, elle présente une sortie mini-jack audio de 3,5 mm, qui est accompagnée du fameux bouton d’allumage. Pour ce qui est de la tranche inférieure droite, le fabricant n’a pas oublié l’intégration d’un port microSD, suivi des touches du volume + / -. En ce qui concerne l’aspect extérieur, le produit présente une finition quasiment irréprochable. J’aurais bien une petite critique, même si elle n’est pas très objective. Mais il est vrai que j’aurais préféré que le constructeur se plie un peu plus à la politique de Google en adoptant l’intégration logicielle des touches d’actions rapides dans l’écran. Comme je vous l’ai dit, ce n’est qu’un avis personnel qui reste tout de même un débat, seulement cela aurait pu réduire encore plus les bordures du mobile. Un peu dans l’esprit du LG G2 à titre d’exemple. Pour un peu moins de 300 euros, on se rapproche assez de la finition extérieure d’un Nexus 5, même s’il y a encore des progrès à faire. Qualité d’écran Angles de vision Dans la suite de ce test, nous allons faire un point sur l’écran, et plus précisément sur les angles de vision. De manière générale, les angles de vision sont très acceptables sur cette dalle tactile IPS-LCD de 5 pouces en Full-HD soit 1080 x 1920 pixels. Avec environ 441 pixels par pouce, il est clair que l’on peut s’attendre à une résolution très convaincante qui se calque avec une profondeur d’image assez bonne en toute circonstance, et qui vient presque rivaliser avec les dalles installées dans les périphériques haut de gamme. En tenue verticale ou horizontale, la qualité de l’image est généralement très bonne avec un écran qui ne fléchit pas un instant. À l’œil nu, la qualité de l’écran est plus que convenable et très lumineuse, voire bien plus qu’un Darkfull qui propose une dalle d’un peu moins bonne facture. Les couleurs Pour continuer sur la qualité de l’écran, faisons un point sur les couleurs et les contrastes. Une fois de plus, la qualité des couleurs et des contrastes semble légèrement supérieure à un Wiko Darkfull, et pourtant la technologie de la dalle tactiles est identique. C’est à se poser des questions. Effectivement, dès lors que l’on s’intéresse de plus près aux technologies de ces deux écrans, on se rend vite compte qu’ils s’appuient tous les deux sur de l’IPS-LCD. Mais voilà, les couleurs sont tout de même plus honnêtes sur l’Idol X. Dans l’ordre, voici la liste complète des appareils qui sont présents dans cette comparaison Google Nexus 5 True HD IPS – Alcatel One Touch Idol X IPS-LCD – Wiko Darkfull IPS-LCD – LG G2 True HD-IPS + LCD Les blancs Sur cette première comparaison, nous pouvons constater que un blanc assez bon sur l’Idol X milieu gauche, là où celui du Darkfull milieu droite est un peu plus clair. Ne parlons pas du Nexus 5, on pourrait penser qu’il a attrapé la jaunisse ! Les rouges Quant aux rouges, ils sont quasiment identiques sur l’ensemble des mobiles comparés, voire peut-être un peu plus clairs le LG G2. Mais on s’éloigne du sujet, ce n’est pas vraiment l’objet de la comparaison, même si c’est toujours bon d’avoir une comparaison avec du haut de gamme. Les verts Une fois de plus, les verts sont identiques sur les Idol X et Darkfull, là où le LG G2 les surpassent tous incluant le Nexus 5 tout à gauche. Les bleus Aucune différence notable remarquée entre les Idol X et Darkfull sur les bleus, et ce même en modifiant la luminosité. Les dégradés Bien que les blancs sont très proches sur les Idol X et Darkfull, les gris demeurent nettement au dessus pour le Darkfull milieu droite. Les mires Terminons avec les mires on se rend compte que l’Alcatel One Touch Idol X a tendance à afficher une image plus claire et moins contrastée que son vis-à-vis, là où c’est tout le contraire pour le Wiko Darkfull. En clair, l’image y est moins éclaircie, mais un peu plus contrastée. Bien sûr, la différence reste très minime à l’œil nu et sur un écran d’ordinateur. Logiciel Comme vous pouvez le découvrir sur la capture d’écran centrale présentée ci-dessous, le smartphone Alcatel One Touch Idol X est installé sur la deuxième branche d’Android Jelly Bean. Rare n’est-ce pas ? Sachant que plus de la majorité des produits avec du MediaTek que nous avons eu l’opportunité d’avoir entre les mains étaient installés sur la précédente virgule d’Android Jelly Bean. La fameuse En dehors de cela, vous remarquez sur les captures de gauche et de droit que l’interface Alcatel One Touch a été remise au goût du jour, même si je trouve que les icônes auraient pu prendre moins de place. Quand on réfléchit un peu plus, certaines icônes qui ne sont pas propres au constructeur sont clairement pixelisées, et le problème est que l’on ne peut pas les redimensionner, même si l’on espère découvrir cette option dans une éventuelle future mise à jour. Au-delà de cela, un pincement du doigt permet d’afficher toutes les miniatures des bureaux créés. Autre et nouvelle fonctionnalité intéressante que j’ai rarement vue ailleurs, la possibilité de placer un nombre presque incalculable de raccourcis d’applications et de widgets sur un même bureau en défilement vertical. La quantité de ressources consommée par cette fenêtre unique n’est pas indiquée dans le système, mais cela reste très fluide dans l’ensemble. À voir sur le plus long terme, mais la fonctionnalité est intéressante. À partir du second volet de la barre d’état, vous pourrez retrouver toutes les options rapides habituelles d’Android comme la Connexion au réseau mobile, la Batterie, le Wi-Fi, le Bluetooth, le mode Avion, et la Luminosité. En plus de cela, on retrouve aussi des options de Partage Wi-Fi et d’Écran, mais aussi le GPS, la Rotation de l’écran et une dernière option qui permet d’Économiser l’écran. Dès lors que l’on navigue dans les paramètres, on peut également s’apercevoir de la possibilité d’ajouter n’importe quel raccourci d’applications à la barre d’état. Un bon point ! Comme la plupart des interfaces constructeur proposées par les fabricants, Alcatel One Touch a mis l’accent sur un menu spécialement à la Gestion de la batterie. Depuis ce menu, vous pourrez accéder à un Mode éco étendu qui permet de désactiver certaines options qui empiètent sur la consommation de la batterie. Ce n’est pas tout, la connexion Internet d’une ou plusieurs applications peut également être coupée manuellement ! Pour ce qui est des autres gadgets, on retrouve également Gestes tactiles couper la sonnerie d’un appel en retournant le mobile, retourner pour activer l’alarme, et secouer pour changer la musique Son l’option Sonnerie progressive est également un plus, même si les autres options restent assez banales globalement Affichage enfin, la possibilité d’afficher les notifications et/ou un effet météo sur l’écran verrouillé à l’allumage du mobile Au premier lancement, vous retrouverez une foule d’applications préinstallées. La bonne nouvelle est que la majorité d’entre elles pourront être facilement être désinstallées. On imagine bien que vous n’aurez pas besoin de toutes ces applications qui tournent pour la plupart d’entre elles en tâches de fond. Résultat des courses, on se retrouve avec une consommation plus importante en ressources et un mobile plus lent que la normale. Au menu, voici les principales applications préchargées dans l’Idol X One Touch Live un mini-marché d’applications qui compte seulement quelques applications environ 20 Radio une application pour écouter la radio FM car oui, le smartphone se dote d’un Tuner FM Sauvegarde One Touch une application pour sauvegarder et restaurer les données photos, vidéos, musiques, mais aussi les contacts, les messages, le calendrier et les marques pages. Excellente application qui s’avère plutôt utile en passant ! Mise à jour système un centre de mises à jour logicielle qui propose des paramètres d’actualisation assez classiques Enfin, il y a également une Lampe torche, une Calcultatrice, un Dictaphone, une Boussole, Office Suite Word, Excel, etc. et quelques autres. Le clavier SwiftKey est quant à lui préinstallé qu l’appareil. Réseau mobile et GPS Comme sur l’ensemble des Alcatel One Touch sur Android disponibles sur le marché, on retrouve également une application Téléphone dotée d’options supplémentaires, notamment au niveau des paramètres d’appels visio et des paramètres avancés liés aux appels vocaux. Plusieurs options notables au niveau des paramètres des appels visio qui ne sont pas disponibles sur la version d’Android Stock. Bien sûr, il y a également de petits ajouts mineurs au niveau des paramètres avancés réduction du bruit, rappel des mins, etc.. Pour toucher un mot sur la qualité sonore en appel téléphonique, elle est assez concluante, et cela se répercute dans l’accroche réseau qui est aussi très bonne. En parlant d’accroche, j’ai également été surpris que l’Idol X capte le Wi-Fi du bureau depuis la rue à 3 étages en dessous ! Bon, ce n’est pas le seul à avoir une grosse portée Wi-Fi puisque j’ai dressé le même constat sur le LG G2, Nexus 5, Galaxy S4, etc. En termes de géolocalisation GPS, il faut avouer que la synchronisation a pris un certain temps environ 30 secondes. Toutefois, il est vrai qu’à certaines périodes de la journée, le fixe se fait moins rapidement qu’à d’autres. Évidemment, je ne suis pas en train de plébisciter la puce GPS du l’Idol X, mais je tiens à préciser que le fixe a réussi à se synchroniser à 6 satellites sur 11. Un bon résultat en somme, même si ce n’est pas le meilleur. Une fois correctement synchronisé, il sera très facile de naviguer dans Google Maps avec les cartes préchargées en hors-ligne. Si vous êtes un utilisateur des services de Google, vous savez certainement à quel point le service de cartographie hors-ligne de GMaps est utile, même si on aurait apprécié avoir un peu plus la main mise sur ces fameuses cartes par le biais d’un gestionnaire de cartes avancés peut-être. Photo et vidéo Qualité photo Un point sur la qualité des photos du capteur dorsal de 13,1 millions de pixels. Bien que les photos soit très acceptable, il ne faut pas croire que plus le nombre de millions de pixels est élevé, et plus on aura des photos de qualité. À titre de comparaison, les LG G2, HTC One, Galaxy S4 et Nexus 5 surpassent clairement l’Alcatel One Touch Idol X. Quoi qu’il en soit, le capteur de 13,1 millions de pixels vous permettra de réaliser des photos en 4096 x 2304 pixels en cinq modes Normal le mode classique, HDR High dynamic range, Panoramique 360°, Nuit luminosité améliorée, Sport en mouvement En outre, on retrouve également d’autres options de gestion avancée comme la possibilité d’activer le Plein écran et le Son déclencheur. À l’instar de la version d’Android stock, il est également possible de gérer la taille de l’image, la minuterie, la densité ISO et l’exposition. Sans plus attendre, voici ce que donne le capteur dorsal de 13,1 millions de pixels de l’Idol X Premier exemple mode normal La répartition des couleurs est plutôt bien gérée par le capteur, mais on notera quelques points faibles, notamment sur les flous et coins sombres. Exemple 2 Mode HDR Pour ce second exemple réalisé en HDR, la répartition des couleurs est bien mieux gérée, mais n’est-ce pas un peu trop exposé par endroit ? Troisième exemple en intérieur Ici, la mise au point focus sur le Bugdroid est plutôt bonne, même si on peut tout de même remarquer un très léger flou sur le bras gauche. Quatrième exemple Mode Nuit En soirée, il faut se rendre à l’évidence… Le capteur de l’Idol X saccade, et cela en impacte directement les photos qui sont beaucoup moins belles. On peut notamment le constater sur la gestion des lumières qui témoigne un résultat plutôt mauvais dans l’ensemble. Les photos en qualité originales Qualité vidéo Avec la possibilité de réaliser des vidéos en très haute définition 1080p, la qualité est plutôt bonne en intérieur et en extérieur de jour. Mais voilà, c’est le même constat en extérieur de nuit avec une qualité qui laisse vraiment à désirer. Je tiens tout de même à rappeler que l’Idol X que nous avons en test est un échantillon, et nous espérons que la version finale du produit sera au mieux de sa forme avec une version logicielle au top ! Et franchement, les performances se valent pour les deux produits, et se reflètent clairement dans leur optimisation logicielle. Et bien que cela ne se voit pas directement sur les benchmark, l’optimisation et la fluidité logicielle sont nettement supérieures sur le Wiko Darkfull. Partant du fait que l’Alcatel One Touch Idol X ne sort que fin décembre, on peut excuser ce manque de rapidité rencontré à plusieurs endroits du système. Avant la mise à jour logicielle qui a récemment été poussée par Alcatel One Touch sur son Idol X, l’expérience utilisateur était plus que rebutante dans la globalité du système. Depuis cette fameuse mise à jour, les petits gars en charge du développement de la ROM installée sur l’Idol X ont travaillé à améliorer la fluidité du système, et ça se sent clairement. Bien sûr, la globalité du système n’est pas encore au top de sa forme. À titre d’information, l’écran verrouillé et la barre de notifications sont parfois très lents, mais la navigation dans les bureaux et le reste du système a grandement été amélioré. Toutefois, j’ai également rencontré des ralentissements notables dès lors que je souhaitais charger des données sur Google Drive et dans plusieurs autres applications qui ne profitent pas encore d’une optimisation parfaite. Pour ceux qui se poseraient encore la question fatidique des caractéristiques de ces deux produits, ne vous la posez plus ! Que ce soit la taille d’écran, la définition de l’écran, le processeur, la puce graphique ou encore la mémoire RAM, les deux smartphones sont identiques en tout point. Tout d’abord, les deux Idol X et Darkfull embarquent un écran tactile IPS-LCD de 5 pouces en Full-HD 1080 x 1920 pixels, suivi d’un processeur quadri-cœur de la série MediaTek MT6589T cadencé à 1,5 GHz, adossé par une puce graphique PowerVR SGX544 MP1 et 2 Go de mémoire vive RAM. Concrètement, la terminaison MP1 veut dire qu’il n’y a qu’un cœur graphique MP2 = 2, MP3 = 3, etc.. Nous n’allons pas vous faire attendre plus longtemps, retrouvez les tests de performances que nous avons pu réaliser à la suite. Sous le capot, on retrouve une batterie de 2000 mAh qui sera sûrement suffisante pour un processeur MediaTek MT6589T qui s’appuie sur une architecture à faible consommation en ARM Cortex-A7. Toutefois, il ne faut pas omettre que l’écran de 5 pouces en définition 1080 x 1920 pixels avec sa résolution de 441 pixels par pouce consommera, quant à lui, son plein pot d’énergie et de ressources. Et quand l’optimisation logicielle a du mal à suivre, notamment pour cet Idol X qui n’est pas encore totalement optimisé, la consommation en est généralement impactée. À la suite, voici les résultats que nous avons obtenu en autonomie vidéo YouTube ~ 1h de 100 à 78% avec les réseaux mobiles et le Wi-Fi activés, luminosité et volume à 100% musique MP3 ~ 45 minutes de 77 à 72% avec les réseaux mobiles et le Wi-Fi activés, volume à 100% et écran éteint De manière générale, l’Alcatel One Touch Idol sera amplement capable de tenir une journée en utilisation normale. Quand je parle d’utilisation normale, j’imagine bien que l’utilisation de chaque personne n’est pas la même. Avec une heure de navigation web, 30 minutes de jeux, de lecture de mail, consultation Twitter/Facebook, un peu d’appels et de messages textes, il me restait 32 % à la fin de la journée. Disponibilité L’Alcatel One Touch Idol X est disponible en précommande à 299,90 euros sur le site officiel d’Alcatel One Touch. Sachez également que le mobile commence timidement à s’afficher chez la plupart des revendeurs français, même s’il reste assez difficile de s’en procurer un à l’heure actuelle.
